Glucophage better known as Metformin is a medication used for the control of blood glucose (blood sugar) in people with type 2 diabetes. Metformin is normally used when diet, exercise, and weight reduction does not lower blood sugar well enough alone. Metformin reduces the amount of glucose produced by the liver.

| How to use this product |
Recommended dose of metformin for adults are between 500 mg three or four times a day to 850 mg two or three times a day. Please consult your doctor for the right dose. Daily dose should not exceed 3 gr.
To reduce the risk of sideeffects such as nausea and vomiting, tablets should be taken with food.
To ensure that the medication works as it should, blood glucose should be monitored regurarly.

| Side effects |
Side effects that may occur are:
loss of appetite, metallic taste in mouth,
stomach ache, nausea, weight loss.
These side effects normally occur in the beginning of the treatment.

| Precautions |
Persons with a reduced kidney function should not use Metformin. Neither should persons with an allergy to metformin or any of the ingredients of the medication. Persons recovering from severe infections, trauma, or surgery should avoid this medication.
Metformin should not to be used by pregnant or breastfeeding women.
Persons with a poor blood glucose control should not take this medication as the only anti-diabetic agent.
Persons who drinks large amounts of alcohol or have severe liver disease should not use Metformin.
