Actos medication is used to treat type-2 diabetes,whick usually developes in adults. Actos works by reducing the body?s natural insulin resistance. It can also be used in conjunction with other diabetes medication.
How to use this product
Actos can be taken with or without food, in doses as prescribed by your doctor. Common dose is one tablet per day. It must be stored in an air tight container, away from heat, light and moisture. If a dose is missed, wait until next dose is due and continue as usual. Do not double dose.
If Actos tablets are taken with other diabetes medications such as chlorpropamide, glibenklamid, glycoside or tolbutamide, a possibility to decrease your medication might be in place.
Side effects
Side effects include sore throat, bodily swelling or bloating, chest pain, rapid weight gain, fatigue, trouble breathing, nausea, stomach pains, excessive thirst, loss of appetite, dark and excessive urine, skin discolouration and eye irritations.
Precautions
Persons sensitive to pioglitazon or other component in Actos tablets should not use this medication. Nor people with heart or kidney disseises.
Actos treatment should not be stopped without notifying a doctor, and you must check with a doctor before altering dosage or diet. If this medication is being taken in conjunction with other diabetes medication, you will be at risk of becoming hypoglycaemic.
Actos may decrease effectiveness of birth control pills. For women, Actos can increase chances of becoming pregnant. DO NOT brest feed while on Actos medication.
Keep and aye on your weight while taking Actos, if your bodyweight increases, contact your doctor.
Persons under the age of 18 should NOT take Actos.
Drug Interactions
No interactions with other drugs are common, but always inform your physician if you use other medications.
